Will your family qualify?

Our interactive eligibility checker is coming soon. Until then, here is how to figure it out yourself in about two minutes.

The two questions that matter

  1. Does your state participate? Students can only receive scholarships in states that opted in. Check the list of participating states.
  2. Is your household income at or below 300% of your area's median income? This uses county-level figures from HUD and is not adjusted for household size. As a rough rule: in a county where the median income is $70,000, households earning up to $210,000 qualify. About 9 in 10 households meet this test.

If the answer to both is yes, your family is likely eligible. Children in foster care and families receiving benefits like SNAP qualify automatically on the income test.

What the checker will do

Enter your ZIP code and household income, and the tool will look up your county's median income and give you a straight answer. No data leaves your browser. We never see or store what you enter.
